The Estero Island Historic Society is located at the entrance to the Matanzas Pass Preserve. When open on Wednesdays and Saturdays, The Cottage Museum offers visitors the chance to browse through museum photos and memorabilia, as well as the opportunity to learn from one of the docents about the areas cultural heritage and island history.
However, if you are unable to make it over to The Cottage Museum while they are open, or prefer to explore the island at your own pace, the Estero Island Historic Society has provided a brochure, including a map, that will guide you around the island stopping at each of the historically significant sites. QR codes in the brochure allow you to instantly bring up pertinent information and history about each location right on your mobile phone. Please follow the website link provided to view the brochure and access additional information.
The Estero Island Historic Society is open and free to visit on Saturdays and Wednesdays from 10am until Noon. Note that by following the provided link, you can access a brochure that provides all the information you will need for a self-guided tour of the island’s historically significant sites.
